W sieci przedwczoraj pojawił się drugi plakat, a wczoraj został on oficjalnie przedstawiony przez producenta wykonawczego - Leigha Whannella, który jest scenarzystą trzech poprzednich odsłon serii. Oprócz plakatu pojawiło się również nowe zdjęcie, które z pewnością zdobędzie uwagę miłośników.

Głównym kandydatem na fotel reżysera, był David Hackl (scenograf “Piły” 2 i III, w dwójce był także drugim reżyserem), ostatecznie jednak do kierowania pracami na planie powrócił Darren Lynn Bousman, a Hackl został ogłoszony niedawno reżyser piątej i szóstej (!) części “Piły”. Bousman z początku nie chciał reżyserować filmu Piła IV, gdyż chciał nareszcie zająć się swoim przyszłym projektem - “Repo” , jednak po przeczytaniu scenariusza zmienił zdanie.

Jest to pierwsza część serii, do której Leigh Whannel nie napisał scenariusza, w końcu wyszedł on spod pióra duetu - Marcusa Dunstana i Patricka Meltona, którzy wcześniej stworzyli skrypt do “Krwawej uczty”, po “Pile IV” zakończyli scenariusz do horroru “The Midnight Man”, którego reżyserem będzie Dunstan.

Reszta ekipy jest praktycznie bez zmian. Najważniejszymi producentami są: Mark Burg i Oren Koules, a wykonawczymi: autorzy 1 części “Piły” - Leigh Whannel (scenariusz i rola “Adama”) i James Wan (reżyser). Wspomniany wcześniej David Hackl ponownie przygotował scenografię, a zdjęcia David Armstrong.

Od początku wiadomo było, że w “Pila 4” wystąpi Tobin Bell (filmowy Jigsaw), który ma także podpisany kontrakt na 5 część serii. Niepewny był ew. powrót niektórych postaci z wcześniejszych części filmu, takich jak Amanda, Dr Gordon czy Eric Matthews. Do dziś uzgodniony powrót następujących postaci: Jigsawa, Rigga (Lyriq Bent), Jeffa (Angus Macfadyen), Amandy (Shawnee Smith), Hoffmana (Costas Mandylor) i … detektywa Erica Matthewsa. Najpierw producenci chcieli namówić Donniego Wahlberga do powtórzenia roli (Eric Matthews), lecz on z niej zrezygnował i wykreowana przez niego postać nie znalazła się w scenariuszu oryginalnym. Jednak po rozpoczęciu zdjęć, w końcu udało się przekonać Wahlberga do powrotu i jego rola została dopisana do scenariusza. “Tak, gram scenę w ‘Pile IV’. Trzymają mnie przy życiu. Nie mogę więcej powiedzieć.” - Donnie Wahlberg. Nowe postacie to: Agent Strahm (Scott Patterson), Art (Justin Louis), Brenda (Sarain Boylan), Jill (Betsy Russel) - żona Jigsawa!, Agentka Perez (Athena Karkanis), Lamanna (Simon Reynolds), Fisk (Mike Realba) i Ivan (Marty Adams).

W “Pile IV” Jigsaw i Amanda nie żyją. Po wiadomości o zamordowaniu detektyw Kerry, dwóch agentów FBI oraz stary detektyw Hofman biorą śledztwo w tej sprawie. Organizując dochodzenie, grupa dociera to Pani Jigsawa, gdzie zostaje ujawniona jego geneza Jigsawa oraz informacje na temat poprzednich i następnych ofiar brutalnych gier. W międzyczasie Rigg ma 90 minut, aby przejść przez serie makabrycznych pułapek, jeżeli tego nie dokona, umrze.

Światowa premiera czwórki zapowiedziana jest na 26 października 2007 roku, także w Polsce.
